Founding member of The Cure and acclaimed author – LOL TOLHURST – will be undertaking a very special ‘In Conversation’ event in Whitby next year, as part of the TOMORROW’S GHOSTS HALLOWEEN GATHERING 2026.
As one of the goth genre’s most prodigious sons, Lol has also authored two acclaimed books ‘Goth: A History’ and ‘Cured: The Tale of Two Imaginary Boys’. And on Saturday 31st October, the legendary drummer will be sitting down in the Whitby Pavilion Theatre to chat through his extraordinary life and work in front of an intimate audience.
With tickets due to be extremely limited, the event will also offer fans an exclusive opportunity to put their own burning questions to the Cure man in a special Q&A and signing session. Limited copies of Lol’s books will also be available at the event.
Lol Tolhurst, founding drummer of The Cure and a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, is a key figure in goth music. He met Robert Smith in childhood and co-founded The Cure in 1976, contributing to classic albums like
‘Three Imaginary Boys’, ‘Seventeen Seconds’, ‘Faith’, and ‘Pornography’ and ‘Disintegration’. Splitting from the band in 1989, he relocated to California, formed Levinhurst and later reunited with The Cure in 2011. In 2016, he released his sensational memoir ‘Cured – The Tale of Two Imaginary Boys’ detailing his life and also toured worldwide with the band. In 2022, Tolhurst reunited with Budgie (Siouxsie and the Banshees) to launch the successful podcast ‘Curious Creatures’, exploring post-punk’s legacy. The duo, alongside producer Jacknife Lee, also released the 2023 album ‘Los Angeles’, featuring major guest artists such as The Edge (U2), James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem), Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse), Bobby Gillespie (Primal Scream), and more. That same year, Tolhurst published ‘GOTH: A History’, a deep dive into the genre’s roots and influence.
Lol’s ‘In Conversation’ session will be a salivating bonus for any fans already eager to see his formerly announced live performance at TOMORROW’S GHOSTS FESTIVAL the previous night. Due to support THE MISSION as a Very Special Guest, Lol will be accompanied by his son Gray. Together, the father-son partnership will be playing an unmissable set that promises to be full of The Cure classics. Festival tickets are on sale now.
